How to find specific percentile of the data of a variable?

I open a dta file and I want to find the 88th percentile of the distribution of a variable called age. What sytax or function I should use?

88th percentile is not what we typically see or measure, so we won't see this from usual commands we use for summary statistics. Instead, you might want to take a look at a command called, "pctile/_pctile." This command is somewhat tricky to use. To locate specific percentile and produce output, you need to apply necessary options within this command. As always, help + "command" is a good start to see how this command is used in practice.
